OPA111: Direct replacement for a composite OPA

Part Number: OPA111

Dear TI engineers,

I am following your Burr-Brown Application Bulletin "Photodiode Monitoring With OP AMPS" (SBOA035.pdf). The Fig. 5 in the document has a composite amplifier that I would like to try. This composite amplifier uses the OPA111, which is no longer available, what other OPA might be recommended as a direct replacement?

Thanks

  • Hi Antonio,

The OPA196 CMOS op amp is comparable in performance to the OPA111, it has lower offset and drift but its input bias current is a little higher. If a few picoamperes of input current is okay, then the OPA196 should work as a close replacement.

Do you intend to use full +/-15 V supplies or something lower for your composite photodiode amplifier? If you are planning to use a lower supply voltage there are several other op amps that can be considered if the 1 pA maximum input current is especially critical.

    Regards, Thomas
