INA333: INA333 for an industrial Strain Gauge application?

Part Number: INA333
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPA2333

My customer has a very similar case to https://e2e.ti.com/support/amplifiers/f/14/p/879637/3254919, but here it is an industrial Strain Gauge application with two INA333 being required. Space is very limited and it would be helpful if we have an amplifier in a tiny package or a dual amplifier. .

Can we offer anything else or is two INA333 the best possible option?

Application requirements:

  • What is the excitation voltage?  -> 3VDC
  • What is the expected input differential voltage range?  ->  +/-5mV
  • How much gain do you need?  -> about 300
  • What is the expected output voltage of the INA or OPA? -> max. 3VDC
  • What supplies are available? -> 3VDC
  • Do you need to measure both sensors simultaneously? -> 2 channels are feed to ADC Input of a SOM. This means both Signals shall be available all the time in parallel at the input of the ADC input channels.

Thanks Josef

  • Hi Josef ,

    I am recommending to use two of INA333 per the application. Each INA333 occupies approx. 3mmx3mm area. I don't think that we have dual package in INA333 or similar ones. I assumed that you do not have height issues with the part (0.8mm in height). The IC consists of the high precision resistors required for the Strain gauge application.

    OPA2333 is Operational Amplifier. Although the single package seems smaller and better electrical specification. By the time you add all the supporting circuitry for the application, it will take more real estate on a board, and the electrical performance advantage may not be evident.

    Best,

    Raymond
