OPA197 Propagation Delay

The OPA197 datasheet shows two propagation delay figures (Figure 39 and 40).

Is this real or an error in the datasheet? The delay times shown seem not to match the speed performance of the part.

    Hi Wulf,

    I did some checking into what is intended regarding the OPA197 Figures 39 and 40. The graphs are in relation to the OPA197 operating as a comparator where the op amp operates open-loop, and a 100 mV overdrive voltage is applied to the non-inverting input. The typical propagation delay times in that mode of operation are provided by the graphs.

    Comparator mode for an op amp results in much different performances than the normal linear modes of operation. For example, the output slams to the rails in comparator mode but remains in the linear operating region in linear mode. The propagation delay graphs 39 and 40 are not applicable to linear operation.

    Hi Thomas,

    Thanks a lot, now I understand the graphs.

    Might be a good idea to add that information to the "comparator mode" information to the figures.
