AMC1200: VOUTN direct to GND

Hi Guys

Customer is using our AMC1200 as voltage senss. and output will be connect to 28035 AD port. the VOUTN will not be used here. So they just tied the VOUTN to GND together. could you evaluate whether we can apply like this? why or why not? How to do with VOUTN if we just want to get single end signal?

Hi Pengfei,

no, connecting VOUTN to GND is no good idea because VOUTN is driven by an amplifier stage which you would short circuit.

The AMC1200 is designed with an differential output stage and it's essential to use a differential amplifier to do the differential to single-ended conversion, unless an ADC with differential inputs is used.

Have you seen the appnote on the AMC1200's product site?

Please also review this FAQ on the AMC1311. The same things apply to the AMC1200, and all of the other differential output isolated amplifiers - ISO224, AMC1100, AMC1211, AMC1300, AMC1301, AMC1302, and the AMC3301.
