OPA128: Metal Lid or Lid is internally grounded?

Part Number: OPA128

Hi team,

My customer wants to know if the OPA128SM has a metal lid. If it does, they want to check if the metal lid is internally grounded, or provides a pad for floating, or is floating.

Can you please help and provide if they have a metal lid, if that lid is internally grounded, or if there’s a pad provided to ground the lid? Or something else which you can add in the comments field?

Thanks,

AH

  • Hello Alpha,

The OPA128SM has a metal cap that is welded to the round metal header that supports the 8 pins protruding out the bottom. Pin 8 is electrically bonded to the header and the die substrate and is intended to be connected to the circuit ground. Therefore, the cap will be at ground potential once the package is soldered into the circuit and pin 8 is connected to ground.
