ISO124: functional block diagram question

Hello team,

My customer is interested in the ISO124 and had questions on the following section of the device functional block diagram.

Clarification regarding its function per this block diagram:

Can you please clarify to me what the top portion (highlighted) is doing exactly? Also, what is the pk-pk oscillation voltage and what type of oscillation is it (sawtooth, triangle, etc)?

Hi Errol!

Take a look through sections 7.1 through 7.1.2 in the datasheet which describe the modulation/demodulation scheme. The OSC in the block diagram is a square wave. Unfortunately I don't have details on its pk-pk voltage, but I am curious to know why you are interested in those details. Also, have you taken a loook at the newer ISO224 amplifier? That device also features up to +/-12V input.

Hi Tom,

thank you for your support! The customer is trying to make a SPICE macro model for the ISO124 to simulate their system. It looks like we do not have a model on ti.com. Do we have one available that we can send to the customer?

Sorry but no, we don't have a model for the ISO124.

Hi Errol,

I wouldn't simulate the total ISO124. The internal circuit is way too complex and the benefit is doubtful. The only aspect of ISO124 that could make sense to be modelled is the output signal generation.
