OPA990: The output status while VCM over SPEC

Hi Support team 

my customer would like to know the VOUT status while VCM < (V-) -0.5V, it's goes to high or low and why?

    Hi Red,

    Going more than 0.5V above or below the supply voltages will turn on the internal ESD diodes causing high levels of current to flow into the device. If this condition occurs the device can be damaged. 

    If the input voltage is expected to go above or below the supplies the current should be limited to less than 10mA (also stated in the Absolute Maximum Ratings table). 

    I recommend watching our TI Precision Lab Videos on Electrical Overstress (EOS) for more information.

    The output voltage will likely rail high or low during this condition depending on the input voltage. If the input voltage goes above the supplies, the output will likely rail high. If the input voltage goes below the supplies, the output will likely rail low.
