INA240: Gain error and offset error formula consideration

Part Number: INA240

Hi TI team,

I have few questions regarding the gain error and offset error.

Offset error:

1. How the 12V is coming in the calculation of Vos_cm.Will it be same irrespective of the input voltage (of course <80V)

Gain error:

1. There is no formula specified for gain. The gain error of 0.2% given in the electrical characteristics table is considering all the parameters (ref resistors, FB resistor and input resistors inside IC) which will effect the gain except temperature? If not could you please provide either formula (or) internal resistor values along with its tolerances

2. Can I consider this at 6sigma?

3. The gain error production distribution for INA240A1 is at which sigma?

Thank you.

  • Hi,

For offset, if the input voltage is different than 12V, then the effect is accounted for by CMRR error. You can refer to the datasheet example in section 8.4.4.2.1 for how it is calculated.

    For gain error:

Q1: The gain error spec of 0.2% includes all the effects from the internal resistors as well others under the specified test condition.

Q2: From a user’s perspective, you should expect to see a device land anywhere within the spec. Distribution only tells us the probability for certain number to occur. Your design should base on the 0.2% spec not the distribution.

Q3: Gain error production distribution can be found in the datasheet figure 5 through 8.
