PGA281: bipolar output

Hi Team,

Can any expert help me to check if PGA281 can config as bipolar single-end output?

If input is +/-10V, I want to make a single-end output +/-2.5V with PGA281, but I couldn't get it work with TINA, from datasheet I think it's ok to do so, feel free to correct me, thanks!

Settings:

VSP = +15V

VSN = -15V

VSOP = +2.6V

VSON = -2.6V

VOCM = 0V

DVDD = VSOP

G0~G4 = 1 0 0 0 0 (gain of 0.25)

G0 = VSOP

G1~4 = VSON

Any problem with it?

  • Hi Andrew,

    Yes, the PGA281 supports bipolar output supplies: VOP=+2.5V and VON=-2.5V with DVDD=VSOP and VOCM=0V.

    The input stage supplies can remain at VSP/VSN=+/-15V.

    It appears the macro does not model correct behavior when using bipolar supplies.  My assumption is that the model has an unintentional internal grounded node  that does not allow the proper shifting of the signals at the output stage; and since most applications use uni-polar VOP=5V, VON=0V supply, this issue was not tested.

    I will need to contact the TINA model team to fix this issue; but this may will take time due to their queue.
