INA199: INA199 and INA213

Part Number: INA199
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: INA213,

I testing INA199A1 and INA213 amp.

Measure 24V DC motor current and 18V supply.

When using INA199, +18v supply and connect load  24v line and then suddenly burnout INA199.

all connection are OK.

I changed INA213 on the same test board.

It working good and I got correct voltage from INA213.

I have 3 INA199 but all burnout.

I don't know difference between INA199 and INA213.

I found on this forum, B and C version are more good for ESD protection.

I used A version only. INA213 too.

I want know why INA199 burnout and INA213 working good on same board ?

Input protection are different ?

  • Hi Gen,

INA199A and INA213A are built with the same die but tested differently according to datasheet specs. They share similar ESD performances.

The fact that in your application INA213 hasn’t failed is coincidental, due to device, pcb and test condition variations. If you test enough of it, I’m sure you’ll find some that fails just like INA199. Conversely, if you test enough of INA199, you’ll find some that work.

Regardless which one you decide to use, please choose B or C to ensure long term, mass production reliability.

    Regards, Guang

  • Dear Guang,

    Thank you for your information.

I will try B or C version of each devices.
