Dear Sir,
We are using Teax make IC LM324 (DIP Package 14 pin through hole) in our transducer which convertes resistance input in to 4-20 mA output. we have sufficinet protective components viz MOV fuse regulated 24V dc power source etc. there was no failure of LM 324 till date. However, in recently supplied transducer reported faulty by customer. on alaysis of that transducer, we found failure of IC LM324 . once the IC replaced the transducer works fine. All other components no failure. on cold check of the IC pins it is found that the Third gate of IC Pin 8,9,10 shorting with the -V pin no.11 . on another IC we found Power supply pin 4 & 11 shorting .. what may be the reason for failur of IC. we supplied 50 instrument and only 3 instrument failure reported. means other 47 instrument working sat. IC has been procured from verified Vendor. pls help me out to find out the root cause of the IC failure.
