PoE PD to POE PSE device

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS2373, TPS2372, TPS23755, TPS23758

Hi,

As per our new requirement, we have to design the 2 port wired router with PoE. the Device has 2 port POE with capable of 1000 base t data transfer. One end act as PoE PD and receives the power up to 30W (IEEE 802.3at, Class 4) from the main PoE source, on the other end act as a PoE PSE which is re-transmit the 15W or lesser (IEEE 802.3af class 3/2/1) power from the received power. Please confirm the possibility of the above power conversion. If it Is possible, please guide me on the concept.

  • Dear sir,

Please note the conceptual block diagram for your reference.

  • Hello,

    Yes this is possible.

However, the first PSE would have to supply enough power for both devices (30W + 15W = 45W). Then  the first PD must also be able to pass all 45W- 30W to the DCDC and 15W to the next PSE. So I would recommend our TPS2372 or TPS2373. Both are stand alone PoE PD's and then you can attach which ever DCDC you need.

For the second PD I would recommend either the TPS23758 (for a 5V output) or the TPS23755 (12V output).
