INA381: Floating RESET pin

Part Number: INA381

Hello Guys,

I have a somewhat similar inquiry.

Our customer during design of an aerospace product have accidentally left the RESET pin floating. However it seems to work as if in transparent mode. Is this floating pin a problem? Should they change the design to ground the RESET pin since they want to operate in transparent mode?

Thanks in advance!

  • Art,

See this forum post for pin details. In short, the pin is not pulled up, or down, internally in the device. As such, it HAS to be defined by the user, or we cannot say with certainty what the voltage on the pin will be. If the customer is seeing the device operate in transparent mode as is, it may be that the pin happens to be floating close to ground, but we cannot guarantee that the device will always operate as transparent mode in this configuration. I would recommend they re-spin the design to properly ground the pin.
