Perhaps these can help guide you in how you want to design your system.

As for Wi-Fi modules, the following are two options I recommend:

1. CC3220MOD
2. CC3235MOD

Note that each of these modules come in four different variants and the differences are explained under the Descriptions section of the datasheets.
