INA301-Q1: LIMIT pin open

Part Number: INA301-Q1

Hi,

Is it possible to leave floating the limit pin and what will be the behavior? Is there any internal resistor in serie with the current source?

Thanks

  • Hi,

There is no internal resistor in series with the current source. When left floating, this pin will be at a potential that is approximately equal to the power supply voltage.

If the comparator function is not needed, the limit pin can be left floating, or connected to VS pin.

  • Thanks for your answer.

Can I put a 10K pullup to VCC on the limit pin?

I'm afraid that with the internal current source, the voltage on this pin will be 80uA x 10k = 0.8V above VCC limited by the internal clamping diode to 0.3V and so component will be stressed?

    Regards

  • Hi,

You can put a resistor of any value from limit pin to VS pin, or directly short them together. There is no risk of stressing any component.

The current source will simply shut off as it runs out of head room when connected to VS pin. The voltage on limit pin will never be higher than VS.
