LM7321: Vin differential range

If the customer is using the op amp in a buffer configuration then they should not have to worry too much about the abs max differential input voltage limit. When it is in a buffer configuration the op amp is in a closed loop configuration and the op amp will drive the two inputs equal to each other.

The customer would need to worry if their input signal caused the output voltage to rail to one of the supplies and the input signal kept increasing. This condition would cause a differential voltage at the inputs because the output would no longer be able to regulate the inverting input equal to the non-inverting input. However, in a buffer configuration this is unlikely to occur and would require an input voltage greater than the supply voltage which would cause the internal ESD diodes to turn on.
