INA826: is there any problem when the gain is 1000V/V?

Part Number: INA826

Hello TI experts,

my customer designed PCB with INA826. originally they used 100V/V gain on INA826 and 10V/V gain on MCU.

now they want to use 1000V/V gain on INA826 and no gain on MCU. (using 49.9ohm resistor)

in that case is there any problems about saturation or noise?

if there are, please give me some guides or documents for reference. Thanks.

Best regards,

Chase

  • Hi Chase,

Q: in that case is there any problems about saturation or noise?

Gain setting of 1000V/V is ok to use, but you may need to minimize the parasitic capacitance at Rg connection, and choose low TempCo of Rg=49.5Ohm (1% or better), see the capatured image below.

With the large gains, you may need to implement close to max. recommended power supply voltage, say +/-15 to +/-18V (or single supply rail). The reasons are the small changes in input signal (outside of your desired range) may readily saturate the instrumentation amplifier.

If you have additional questions, please let us know.

    Best,

    Raymond
