Question on OPA357AIDBVT footprint

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPA357, OPA2357

Hi All,

I would like to ask one question about OPA357AIDBVT footprint.

I downloaded PADS-PowerPCB footprint from http://focus.ti.com/docs/prod/folders/print/opa357.html, and measured the distance between outer edges of pad 1 and 6, which is 3.6mm.

But on page 23 of SBOS235E, the OPA357/OPA2357 document, for DBV (PDS0-G6) the corresponding distance is [min: 2.6, max: 3.0], with max smaller than 3.6mm.

I cannot find mechanical for “DBVT” in the document.

So am I getting the right footprint file?

Thanks,

Zheng

  • The 3.0mm maximum distance in the datasheet for the DBV package is indicating the maximum distance from "edge of pin" to "edge of pin".

The layout footprint you are measure is for the pad layout on the PCB, which you want a little extra open area for the solder to adhere to, etc.  These two things should not be exactly equal.  The PCB layout footpring should be a little larger, as you have found.
