TAS5713: DRC function left channel works but right channel fail

Part Number: TAS5713

HI

We are using TAS5713 DRC function and encountered a problem that left channel we can successful limit the output power at 27W however right channel the DRC fail to limit the output power.

My registor setting as below, may i have your help look into this? thanks!

register 0x46 = 0x00000001

         register 0x56 = 0x005D0000

         register 0x57 = 0x00020000

         register 0x40 = 0x08000000

         register 0x3b = 0x00000058007FFFA8

         register 0x3c = 0x00001000FFFFF259

  • Hi PY,

Please try to enable the both DRC in the register 0x46. You could find more info about this on the page 56 in the datasheet.

  • Shawn,

After turn on both DRC. Use the AP to do the testing, DRC do work as we expected.

    The application is microphone system.

We use microphone to do the test. Suddenly loud voice on microphone the DRC will not work properly. We are wondering if our attact time and release time setting not optimize. Would you help review our setting below. Thanks!

DRC1 and DRC2 setting are the same.

             register 0x46 = 0x00000003  //DRC1 , 2 ON

             register 0x40 0x43 = 0x0800000007FFFFFF //0dBm

             register 0x3b 0x3e = 0x00051EB8007AE148 //0.51ms

             register 0x3c  0x3f = 0x00068000FFFFA96B //attack=0.4ms , release=7.87ms

  • Hi PY,

The first you need to adapt the DRC THR to make sure the limited output power is expected. Then you could lower the attack time to decrease the DRC reponse time. And also you could try to decrease the soften time to get a quicker response.

  • Hi PY,
Plesase let us know if you have any other question here. Please help to close it if you don't more other question.

  • Hi Shawn,

We tried several setting below is the best we can get, but still not fast enough. The output still over a lot. Can you help review below setting if you got any fine tune idea? thanks!

DRC1 and DRC2 setting are the same.

             register 0x46 = 0x00000003  //DRC1 , 2 ON

             register 0x40 0x43 = 0x0800000007FFFFFF //0dBm

             register 0x3b 0x3e = 0x00051EB8007AE148 //0.51ms

             register 0x3c  0x3f = 0x00068000FFFFA96B //attack=0.4ms , release=7.87ms

  • Hi PY,
I found that DRC THR is set to 0dB in your setup. Is it the appropriate value? Make sure the limited power is below the target. The attack time, decay time and soften filter look OK. Basically you could use shorter attact time and softening time to get a faster response.
