PCM6020-Q1: Could you pls help review the schematic diagram ?

  • Hi Xiaofu,

    Here are my comments:

    1) I would suggest following bypass capacitance guidelines in datasheet. AREG should have a 10uF bypass capacitor

    2) It looks like there is a provision to connect AREG to IOVDD, this should not be done. AREG should only be connected to AVDD if AVDD is 1.8V.

    3) I would suggest non-zero values for the clock and data line resistors, but it is good that the footprints are here. We typically recommend a value somewhere between 22-100 Ohms

    4) For the I2C address pins I would recommend keeping ADDR0 pin pulled low and changing the ADDR1 pin to differentiate the devices. This is to avoid any potential problems with the device configuring itself for SPI operation on startup.

    5) Are the mic signals single-ended or differential here? It looks like differential input configuration is being used. The values chosen look appropriate, did you use the AC coupled calculator to determine the input pullup values?

    6) Note that AC coupling the inputs means the mic diagnostic features cannot be used effectively.

    Best,

    Zak
