TAS5756M: TAS5756M Power-On Reset clarification

Part Number: TAS5756M
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5754M, TAS5766M

Hi, E2E,

We are using the TAS5756M (and TAS5754M) in one of our client's product and would like to get some clarification about the power-on reset (POR) function.

The datasheet points that during the POR sequence, registers are held in their default values until the amplifier receives valid MCLK, SCLK, and LRCK/FS for a period of approximately 4 ms. This seems to indicate that the I²C configuration won't be possible until the POR process is complete because the registers will be held into their default values.

During our experiments, we were able to program the amplifiers via I²C before streaming the I²S clocks to the parts, and so far we have not had any issues with the amplifier configuration.

As we are optimizing the startup sequence of the system for low-power operation, we would like to know why is it possible to configure the amp even if clocks are not present.

We looked at the TAS5766M datasheet to compare the POR function and there is no mention about the need for the clocks to be active for the registers to be released from their reset state.

Any clarification about this could be really useful for us.

Thanks!
