PCM1789-Q1: PCM1754 + Volume control

Part Number: PCM1789-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM1754-Q1, , PCM1789

Hello, Team,

We are looking for a device which could replace PCM1754-Q1 with an additional capability of a volume control.
From the datasheet, PCM1789-Q1 would be suitable device.
Our request here is to input single I2S and output Rch/Lch, with a volume control.
Volume control level is expected to be something like 0dB ~ -100dB.

From datasheet p31, ATDAx[7:0] seems to be the function we are looking for; is this correct understanding?
What is the intended use for this function?

Also, are there any other IC which has similar capability?

Best,
Masaru

  • Hello Masaru,

if you need 0 to 100dB attenuation, DAMS = 1 will set attenuation from 0dB to -100dB in steps of 1dBin PCM1789.

However you might want to consider PCM512x family with digital volume control (from +24dB to -103dB,  in steps of 0.5dB)

    Regards,
