Part Number: PCM2707C
In short, I'm looking for a simple OTS USB-to-I2S bridge. I want to interface to a PCM1860 ADC and a PCM5102A DAC and am curious if this part -- the PCM2707C can achieve this.
We planned to use the NRND CP2615 bridge but found that its discontinuous BCLK was not compatible with the PCM1860. The PCM2707C's on-board DAC, USB port and I2S capability suggested it would be a suitable candidate. In checking its datasheet I see that with pin 9 (FSEL) grounded, the I2S protocol is enabled, setting
I obtained a PCM2707C evaluation board (EVM-U) and connected it to my board. I see activity from the ADC on DIN to the PCM2707 and am still working through the DAC side.
When I plug the EVM into my PC (Windows 10) it enumerates as "2- USB AUDIO DAC" and is available as a "playback" device. However, there's no "recording" device available from it.
Is there a configuration change I can make or is this part simply not suitable to act as a bridge in this way? Looking at section 9.5 of the datasheet I believe it is not but would appreciate confirmation.
If it's not compatible are there any TI (or TI-recommended) ICs that can provide the bridging function I'm after?
From reading datasheet , I too don't think it is capable of doing so . I also found this post and I quote from it:
"TI does not have a dedicated device for this function. I believe we have some DSPs that would be able to do this (C6000), but to my knowledge there is not an example reference design implementing it. We use an XMOS asic to act as the USB-I2S bridge in many of our EVMs. In addition I have seen the C-Media CM6631 used for this as well."
I hope this can help.
