The TLV320DAC datasheet says that the digital effects filter coefficients should not be changed while the DAC is outputting audio in order to avoid audible artifacts. Therefore is it possible to achieve user operable continuous BASS/TREBLE tone controls using this chip? I can see that it may have been intended for a fixed bass/treble boost/cut, but cannot see how continuously variable bass/treble tone controls operating while the DAC is outputting audio is possible. Can aynone help clarify what is and what is not possible with this chip?
If this is possible, does anyone have an algorithm or better yet, C code, to implement bass/treble tone controls for this chip? I would be using D.C. bass/ treble pots to input to the microcontroller's ADC and using the measured voltage to compute the required filter coefficients.
If this is not possible using this chip, then I could use a much simpler DAC, e.g. the PCM1770, and a classic analogue Baxandall tone control.
Thanks.
