Normally for high fidelity audio recording you will want the cutoff frequency for the HPF as low as possible maybe 20Hz, so when the input signal is low (lowest setting) e.g. -12dB a 0.1uF with 80K will give the 20Hz cutoff which ensure the fidelity of the signal. So placing a 0.1uF cap at input is ok.
