LP2985-33DBV: Looking for replacement for LP2985-33DBV (voltage regulator)

Hello,

I am working on a project and the spec calls for the use of some LP2985-33DBV regulators. However, there doesn't seem to be much of a record of these—I've found a few references on ti.com but not a ton, and no data sheets or anything.

I assume the part has been deprecated and there's a new replacement. The most common component seems to be the LP2985-33DBVR or LP2985-33DBVT, but I'd like to verify that these components are the same, as I'm seeing some indications online that they may have different pinouts than the LP2985-33DBVR.

What is the recommended drop-in replacement for the LP2985-33DBV? Unfortunately, I need a direct replacement as I'm using older gerber files that can't be modified.

    Hi JC,

    You are correct in that there is a newer P2P replacement for this device, see TPS7A24. Take a look and let me know what you think.

    Thanks!  I see that the TPS7A24 also has the "33DBVR" suffix; i.e. I've found the TPS7A24-33DBVR part.  However, given that the original part I need is the LP2985-33DBV but all I've managed to find are the LP2985-33DBVR and LP2985-33DBVT parts, I'm worried that the TPS7A24-33DBVR will be different enough that it won't be compatible.  (that is, I would assume that the 33DBV and 33DBVR parts, whether from the TPS7A24 line or the LP2985 line, would have the same differences)

    Given that I'm specifically looking for the LP2985-33DBV, can you recommend the direct replacement within the TPS7A24 line?

    Hi JC,

    The "R" and "T" suffix are only related to the packaging quantity (i.e. 3000 for "R" and 250 for "T"), and are not actual device differences. This is true for the nomenclature of all TI devices, including TPS7A24. So, I think TPS7A2433DBV is the device you need, and depending on how many you want in each reel will determine whether you need TPS7A2433DBVR or TPS7A2433DBVT.

    Thanks so much!  So this means that if I'm looking for a LP2985-33DBV but I can find a LP2985-33DBVT or a LP2985-33DBVR, I can use either of those?  And similarly, if I can find a TPS7A2433DBVR or TPS7A2433DBVT, either of those work, as well?
