PGA2500: part code question

Part Number: PGA2500

Hi,

I am getting 10 preamp PCB's made up in a fab house in China and asked them to supply PGA2500IDB part.

They are showing me photo's of 1 board made up using part PGA2500I17C1PLK

Can you anyone tell me what these 17C1PLK part of the package code means ?

I was expecting PGA2500IDBxxx and just want to check these chips aren't from some special order or modified version of the PGA ?

Thanks in advance.

Ben

  • Hi Ben,

I am not the primary PGA2500 support person on our Applications team, but your inquiry caught my eye. I entered the PGA2500I17C1PLK part number into two of our internal product systems and nothing was returned showing that specific part number. The only PGA2500 part numbers that come up are those for the PA2500IDB and PGA2500IDBR. I think there is a possibility that TI produced a version of the PGA2500 with the I17C1PLK suffix, but since its not showing up in our systems and that makes me question that possibility. Our person who covers the PGA2500 will see your e2e inquiry and may have some knowledge about the different suffix if it is real.

Is there any possibility the company producing the PGA2500 board for you can provide you information about the PGA2500I17C1PLK they are using, and who they are sourcing it from? That may help provide us a better understanding about the PGA2500I17C1PLK part number.

  • Hi Ben,

Could you send me a photo of the PGA2500I17C1PLK?

Please keep in mind that we may provide certain information, if the part is purchased from authorized TI distributor or TI E-store. Otherwise, the traceability on these part or EVMs are difficult to  verify.

Can you anyone tell me what these 17C1PLK part of the package code means ?

I am unable to reveal the code meaning, but the number of letters 17C1PLK seem to be correct. There are other topside markings on the IC, and I need the IC image.

I saw Thom's reply. I think that we are saying the same thing, except "I" is a part of PGA2500I device marking.

As Thom indicated, we are not the primary PGA2500 support person. Please send us the photo and may be we are able to see if proper markings are on the device.

    Best,

    Raymond

  • Hi Raymond ,

Here's a picture of the PGA IC , hope that helps.

I've used this IC before and its usually marked PGA2500IDBxxx so I thought I better check its a genuine part.

The fab house allows me to supply parts directly , if I make a larger run of these cards I will order from an authorised reseller.

    thanks,

    Ben

  • Hi Ben,

These markings represent information that TI uses internally to keep track of dates, lot codes, and other assembly information. As Raymond said in the previous post, these markings have the correct format that is expected for this device. I cannot independently verify all of the letters and numbers shown, but if you were to suspect counterfeit devices, the counterfeiting team would use this information in their investigation.

I can confirm that this is the expected marking for the PGA2500IDB and it does not represent a special or modified version of the device.

    Thanks,

    Zach

  • Thanks Zach , that answers my question.
