SRC4192: Decimation Filter

Part Number: SRC4192
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SRC4193, PCM5242

Hi,

For the SRC4193, the decimation filter can be enabled or disabled by setting the DFLT, but is my understanding correct that the decimation filter for the SRC4192 can only be enabled?
For the SRC4192, there was a difference in sound quality when LGRP was turned on and off. Will it affect the characteristics of the decimation filter? If there is different, could you please provide a graph that shows the difference between the decimation filters by turning on and off?

Best regards,
Kato

  • Hello Kato,

The difference b/w 92 and 93 is that one is pin controlled and the other one is software controlled therefore it has more control and option. the default for both is that digital filter is enabled, for then pin control device  you can not do much but in 4193 you can disable it while you are down sampling.

The group delay is a part of decimation filter characteristics and has effect on quality. I don't have any plot for the characteristic of decimation filter based on its selected group delay and whatever you see in datasheet is the available data. Some datasheets such as PCM5242 has plots for decimation filter characteristics  with different group delay but unfortunately  SRC datasheet doesn't . Also you can read more about group delay and bandwidth and etc of decimation filter in the following link:

  • Hi Arash-san,

    Thank you for the information.

    I understand.
