TLV320AIC3263: Smart CODEC recommendation

Part Number: TLV320AIC3263
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PUREPATHSTUDIO

Hi, TI Team,

I was looking at an audio CODEC and wanted to learn more about what algorithms are available of this platform by default and IF customization is supported, beyond simply tuning of algorithms?

Based on my application I found the tlv320aic3263, but perhaps someone that is a deep expert in this area from TI can make a better recommendation. I found the tlv320aic3263 and it seems reasonable, but maybe you have a better recommendation...

I would like to have a minimum of 2x DMICs or 2x AMICs connected to the CODEC to capture audio. I also want to be able to drive a 4ohm loudspeaker directly from an integrated amp within the CODEC > 2W into 4 ohms from a 3.8-4.2V battery supply. For the DSP algorithms we need to be able to simultaneously run an AEC and Speaker Tuning (EQs, DRC, MBC, etc...). If the DSP platform is open for 3rd party development, that would be beneficial.

Can you please provide 3-5 codec recommendations based on these requirements? Please include the DSP architecture/platform, e.g. HiFi, CEVA, etc... and the tools available for it.

What is the support model for training, integration and tuning?

Are the DSPs in any of the recommended CODECs open, e.g. 3rd party developers can develop algorithms on this platform? If so, are there already 3rd party vendors with IP ported to these platforms that you can share?

Thanks!

BTW, not that any of the above is confidential, I would NOT like my correspondence with TI support to be made public and posted to a forum. Is this the only support model I can get access to?

  • Hi,

I have attached here a high-level summary of the current codec devices that might meet your requirements.

Our current DSP devices have limited resources to support AEC and other algorithm, we would recommend using external DSP to run algorithm like AEC.

The DSP algorithm is not open to 3rd party developer.

You can load the PurePathStudio (PPS) which basically the tool for the algorithm and information is available from the help menu or the component itself.

Some simple PPS training videos are also available here.

You can either talk to the FAE supporting your region or use this thread and we can discuss on sending sensitive material if needed.
