Hello everyone!
How does the TDM of the TAS5822M work? Suppose I have a 48kHz audio stream with 16 slots of 32 bits each, and I want the left channel of the TAS5822M to play slot 2 and the right channel to play slot 5. How do I assign the output channel to a particular slot?
Best regards,
Severin
Hi Severin
The device could only choose two adjacent channels, and you could set the offset register to decide at which position to start your slot. The offset setting method is described in datasheet 7.3.6.
Hello,
thank you for your response. So if I understood right: If, for example the left channel of the amplifier outputs slot 13 when FSYNC is high then the right channel outputs slot 13 when FSYNC is low. Is that correct?
Best regards,
Severin
Hi Severin
The behavior you described is for I2S format, the left/right channel related with high/low side FSYNC clock.
In TDM mode, the duty cycle of the FSYNC clock not affected to the data, only the rising edge of FSYNC will decide each new cycles. As below picture shows TDM16 format, the FSYNC clock could be a 1bit clock. And the offset you set in the register, would count from each rising edge of FSYNC clock, to decide the first Slot data you want to use, like Slot 13. And device will take Slot 13 and Slot 14, to use as left channel and right channel.
