PCM2912A: Max Output Voltage

Part Number: PCM2912A

Hello team,

I want to estimate the Max output voltage swing of this device.
From the datasheet, the output voltage is specified as below.

If I am using VCCA=3.3V, and RL>10kohm, would the max output voltage swing be 0.66V to 2.64V like below?

Best Regards,
Kei Kuwahara

  • Hi Kuwahara-san,

    Yes you're understanding is correct.

  • Hello Jeff-san,

Thank you for a quick reply!
However, my customer has another question.

How do you control the VOUT of this device with USB interface?

On the datasheet, it says that feature unit #5 is used to control the volume for the analog output.
However, I can't find any register map on the datasheet.

I am not used to USB controlled devices, so could you please guide me?

    Best Regards,
    Kei Kuwahara

  • Hi Kuwahara-san,

Unfortunately I'm not intimately familiar with the USB protocols, but what it ends up looking like is the level control in Windows like below:

There is no I2C control or register map like you might expect. Everything is controlled through the host via USB. The device is USB 2.0 class compliant with no drivers necessary. Theoretically any USB 2.0 driver you might be designing for can control this device.

    I hope this helps,
