TLV320ADC6140: Linux device driver and MCLK

Hi team,

My customer is using TLV320ADC6140IRTWR, connect to IMX6 NXP HOST CPU. This CPU will port linux OS.

They have 2 questions:

1. Does TLV320ADC6140IRTWR has device driver that can be ported to linux OS which will be running on IMX6 NXP CPU?

2. Customer is asking that MCLK will automatically be generated inside the TLV320ADC6140 if it has BCLK clock?

2. Is the customer trying to operate device in master mode or slave mode? In general lower jitter ASI clocks cannot derive larger ones, but maybe we can get to the root of what customer is trying to achieve.

Hi Daveon,

They will operate TLV320ADCX140 in slave mode. They want to ask do they must supply MCLK through GPIO1 (pin 20) or device can be configured to generate MCLK from BCLK?

If they must supply MCLK through GPIO1, which frequency is OK?

Hi Nguyen,

The customer only needs to provide an MCLK if they want the device to operate in master mode, otherwise the device can run off of BCLK.

The device can derive all necessary internal clocks from the FSYNC and BCLK input from the SOC

Supported BCLK and FSYNC frequencies ratios/clocking is already calculated for you so you can reference table 6 and 7 in the datasheet.
