TAS5630 Pre-amplifier

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5630

Hello,

Which is the good  pre-amplifier (single-ended to single ended) to use along with TAS5630 class-D amplifier?

There is one pre-amp mentioned in the TAS5630 EVM board. but that is only differential output. but i need single ended output.

Can any one help me?

Regards,

Anas

  • Anas, TAS5630 requires a differential input, so its preamp must have a differential output.  But maybe the issue is that you have a single ended source.  That is not a problem, because the differential input of the TAS5630 EVM preamp can have one side of each channel grounded to accept a single ended source.  (It is generally not good to connect a single ended source without grounding one side of the preamp input, because there is no common mode ground between the source and the preamp.  In that case power line leakage through the source power supply and other effects like ESD are uncontrolled and can cause interference.)

You can try grounding one side of the preamp input with an EVM using shunts on J24 and J25.  Just make sure to placed the shunts pins 2 and 3 so the sleeves of the source cable are grounded.  Otherwise the active output of the source gets grounded, and this usually does not work very well.

    Steve.

    Hello Steve,

Thank you for your response. Actually my idea is to develop a combi-amb PCB which can support mono, stereo, 3 output and 4 output (4 single ended output). So i have to design a pre-amp circuit which supports 2 differential input to TAS5630 and 4 single ended inputs to TAS5630. That mean i have to mount or unmount different configuration in the PCB.

Now my concern is to find out a converter from differential to single ended output (in pre-amp section). I have attached my design. could you please comment on it. I have simulated with other op-amps and it is working fine. But i need to check it before going to layout.

    Regards,

    Abdul.

  • Abdul, your goal is clear, and, if simulation is good, your design should work.  The next step is to make a prototype and check performance.

    Best regards,

    Steve.
