PCM2912A: Minimum operating temperature

Part Number: PCM2912A

Hello TI audio support team !!!!

I want to use the PCM2912A for an industrial application. The datasheet specifies the recommended minimum operating temperature at -25C, and the absolute maximum minimum operating temperature under bias at -40C.

My questions are:

  1. Does the PCM2912A work to the fully specified performance at -40C, or is the minimum fully operational temperature -20C ?
  2. Does TI offer a USB codec that is rated -40C to +85C (industrial/automotive/military)
  3. Does TI offer a USB hub with an I2S interface? Microchip has these, I was wondering if TI offers something similar.

Any help is immensely appreciated. Thanks in advance

Keith

  • Hi Keith,

    1) -40C is the limit of damage. -25C is the minimum that the performance will be guaranteed. We don't test performance in the range in between, so it's not a guarantee that it will work as specified. If it's a requirement for your design you're safe to test it but we can't guarantee the results.

    2) Unfortunately our USB codec selections have the same temperature minimums as the PCM2912A.

    3) I don't believe we have any USB hubs that support I2S. That's not an application I've heard of before.
