TLV320DAC3100: Internal Clocking

Part Number: TLV320DAC3100

Hi Team,

I would like to enquire on below:

1. MCLK can supply 24MHz. BCLK can be 32xFs. Which is better to use to generate internal Codec_CLKIN?

2. We are using it as a mono speaker output to play beep tone. So any recommendation for lowest current consumptions?

3. Beep Generator any issue to to use this to generate beep tone at different frequency?Any catch? Current consumption should be the lowest?

  • Hi Ernest,

    1. Either clock is OK. If only one of these is a multiple of FS that would be preferred.
    2. If you can use a high frequency clock that's also multiple of FS, you may not need to use the PLL which would save some power.
    3. Make sure you have running clocks even if using beep generator only. This feature requires at least BCLK running. You may use the EVM and GUI to test the beep gen function and it can also be used to get the required I2C commands.
