DRV5825P: Current measurement

Part Number: DRV5825P
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS2781

Hi team,

The component is going to be used in a control loop to make sure it does not drive the piezo-pump with too much current

Hence the question: does the DRV5825P have I/V sense at its output such as the TAS2781?

Thank you.

Kind regards,

Wouter Kragt

  • hi Wouter

DRV5825p do not have that feature.

it has smart piezo algorithm embedded in it and it is an open loop algorithm.

you can only try to keep enough margin in the parameter to prevent over current happen.

  • Hello Jesse,

    Thank you for the feedback.

The device will have to comply with FS requirements as it will be for a medical application.

Hence, the device will be in a control loop of a couple of devices. Will this open loop algorithm help here?

Can you please elaborate on the piezo algorithm and open loop algorithm?

    Thank you,

    Kind regards,

    Wouter

  • HI Wouter

the smart piezo algo is described in the datasheet as below:

open loop means it stored the model in the dsp, but it cannot feedback current from output to dsp.

can you share me what is FS requirement?

    control loop of couple devices

->can you explain more about this, how they perform the control?

    tks
