PCM2902C: ASIO Driver for DAW integration

Part Number: PCM2902C
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM2902,

Hello.

We are successfully using PCM2902 for years in our measurement environment and would now like to redesign a circuit with PCM2902C.

One of our user complaints is about the driver or integration.

As we are using software on WIN with only ASIO I/O we have to route the USB codec via ASIO4ALL. One source of failure is that the Windows volume control does still apply for the USB codec and now the Intel OED SST makes problems with ASIO4ALL.

I'd like to ask, if TI offers an ASIO driver or can recommend an available general ASIO driver for PCM2902C. A substitute chip with similar feature set would probably also be a nice reply.

Best Regards,

Cole

  • Hi Cole,

Unfortunately what you're describing is the intended behavior of the device. It's supposed to be a class compliant device with no need for drivers, which is why Windows is still controlling the volume despite ASIO4ALL.

Typically ASIO4ALL is the best general ASIO driver out there and all of our USB audio devices would suffer from the same problem. We don't have a driver for this device sadly, plus our USB audio devices are quite old.

Since you're in a redesign phase, if you're able to relocate the USB interfacing to a different device/controller, I'd be happy to help you pick out an I2S codec that could suit your needs.

    Best regards,
    Jeff McPherson
