LM1971: Operate the 3 wire interface LM1971M/NOPB with clock frequency < 2MHZ

Hello Team,

I hope you are doing good. One of our customers is asking Is it possible for LM1971M/NOPB to operate the 3 wire interface with clock frequency < 2MHZ? They are in doubt as the datasheet says 2Mhz as some limit.

Can you confirm or provide your feedback on this?

Hi Usman,

Unfortunately there's nothing else to refer to other than the data sheet itself, even older versions of the same document are pretty much the same at least on the related to fclk spec.

Being said that, the spec table and the timing diagram in figure 15 suggest the maximum supported frequency is 3MHz, and no mention of a lower limit. The 2MHz mentioned in the spec table suggest this is the frequency used during test, but not necessarily a lower limit.
Based on that I'd say it's OK to operate at <2MHz.
