TAS6424-Q1: Power Consumption

We're using TAS6424-Q1 Audio Amplifier IC in our design. We need to know the power consumption of all channels during audio playback when operating at 4ohm and 20W on each channel in the worst-case scenario. We have analyzed the power efficiency and output power plot, and have calculated the value of PVDD_14.4 current value (6.4A). Can you please provide us with the current consumption values for VBAT_14.4 and VDD_3.3?

Hello,

The datasheet states in the Electrical Characteristics table that the VBAT current is 100mA max and the VDD current is 18mA max.

Hi Gregg Scott,

When we checked the datasheet, we found that the mentioned values were tested with no audio input. Could you please provide the consumption of all channels during audio playback at load condition?

Hello,

This would need to measured. If you have an EVM, you can measure these values also. The 3.3Vdc will be a bit difficult because of all of the other ICs on the EVM will draw current.

At full power with a clipped sine wave. I measured on one device, VDD is 16.57mA and VBAT is 79.1mA. These are within the datasheet limits.

Thanks for the information.
Also, please clarify one more thing. We plan to use 12V for PVDD and VBAT, which falls within the recommended value. Could you please confirm if this is okay?
