LM1971: Brown-out protection features?

Part Number: LM1971

Tool/software:

Hi team,

Does TI test LM1971 for brown-out immunity?
Or, does this device have any brown out protection features?

I didn't find any realted information from the datasheet.
My customer concerns if the serial communication or attenuation operate correctly when temporal brown-out happens.

Best regards,
Kazuki Itoh

  • Hi Itoh-san,

LM1971 is specified for a minimum supply voltage of 4.5V, if the supply voltage drops below this level the device would be reset. Note this is quite an old device, only information available is what's already included in the data sheet.

  • Hi Ivan-san,

My customer is looking for any helpful information to mitigate the risk of brown-out.

After the brown-out event, will the device reset and operate correctly if the serial data is input correctly?

    Best regards,

    Kazuki Itoh

  • Hi Itoh-san,

If the device losses power and then gets it back, it will pretty much treat it as a power-on-reset. So yes, the device will continue to operate after the power transition as long as it keeps receiving the proper serial data input.
