Hello,

we are using the TAS3204 in our new CAM-474 Audio amplifier project right now.

I am looking for a level detector component to use with the pure path studio that clears a GPIO when a certain audio level is exceeded for a certain time and sets the GPIO again when the audio level is under the threshold for a certain time.

The GPIO would then be connected to the TAS5630 that we want to use in the same project.

This way we could make a music sense for switching the amplifier on and off.

Has anybody got an idea of how to do this.

We have a peak detector and and RMS detector that can serve as a level detector, but to access GPIO pin, you need to change the M8051 code. I don't think we release the source code of 8051 to our customer anymore.

I did something similar for a customer before, but it's not a standard release, and I am not sure whether that would meet your need. I suggest you talk to your FAE, with details of your requirements, so we could find a way to release this to you.

Would it not be possible to make a level detector component for the pure path studio where the threshold to trigger the GPIO can be set via I2C?

And what was the thing that you did build for a customer?

It's not hard to make the component you have in mind, the problem is GPIO pin toggling, because GPIO pins are not accessible from DSP, they have to be set via M8051, so the micro code modification is needed.

What I did for the other customer is making a noise gating component which would decide whether the GPIO pin should be low and high and save the decision in a DSP memeory for every incoming sample and also I modified the 8051 code to peek the DSP memory and set the GPIO pin accordingly, ie, a special 3204 framework component.

This is almost what I am looking for, Susan.

Is the tigger level for the noise gate set via I2C?

Thomas,

That customer doesn't need to modify the noise threshold at runtime, so in their design it is a design time parameter.

If you need to set the threshold at runtime, just a minor change.
