TAS5719 I2C Address

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5719, TAS5719EVM

Hi,

I can not get the TAS5719 to communicate with the MC57xxPSIA.  VR_DIG and VR_ANA have 1.8 V on them so we think the chip is powered on.  A_SEL is high, like the EVM, so the I2C address should be 0x56 however when I checked the SCL and SDA signals, it seems the I2C address is incorrect.  How do you change or verify the address inside the TAS57xx GUI to get communication?

Thanks,

Adrian

  • Hi Adrian,

Please refer to the following article, available on the device webpage, that describes setting the I2C address for the GUI.

  • Hye Ravi,

    question from user:

I got TAS5719 working this morning. I connected the MLCK from MC57xxPSIA to our board and changed the Environment Variable to 56 instead of 54. Last week MLCK for TAS is created on our board. Although TAS is working now, I still have some questions.

    1.  As the configure for TAS on our board is the same as TAS5719EVM, in which A_SEL is high, why the I2C for TAS on our board is 0x56 but that for TAS5719EM is ox54?
    2. For TAS, do MCLK and I2C(SCL, SDA) need to come from the same clock source? Or for I2C communication does it need MCLK?

    thanks

    Jehan

  • Hi Jehan,

1.) The ASEL pin on TAS5719 is pulled low through Resistor R5, so so the address should be 0x54, as they already found.

2.) The I2S & I2C are independent, and do not need to come fromthe same source. Also,  I2C will work even without the I2S (i.e. MCLK, SCLK, LRCLK).
