Another PCM2912A question

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM2912A

I have another quick question - Is the gain on the input of the PCM2912A engineered strictly for microphone levels?

Thanks,

Dustin

  • Hi, Dustin,

The PGA has a gain range of -12 dB to 30 dB, which should provide a wide enough range for a variety of audio inputs...

You might want to check the EVM Users Guide. It has a lot of really good info in it!. You can find it here.

  • Hi Don,

Thanks very much for the information! It is appreciated.

We have been looking through the UG and I had a related question:

There is a built in sidetone PGA that feeds the input directly back to the output. Do you know if this can be defeated or attenuated? Its says in the block diagram that you can attenuate the signal in -1dB steps, but I do not understand what would control the attenuation? Is there an SDK that can access this attenuator? Is there any way to store this data on the PCM2912A so that the sidetone PGA is defeated or attenuated upon initialization? Also, pardon if I butchered any of this, as I am not the engineer, only the project manager. Thanks so much!!

  • Hi, Dustin,

Sorry, I missed your follow-on question.

    This is addressed here: http://e2e.ti.com/support/data_converters/audio_converters/f/64/p/218832/777072.aspx#777072

Unfortunately, this is controlled by the OS; our part can't remember what it was set to the last time.
