TAS5352A in 2.1 mode

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5548, TAS5630B, TAS5352A, TAS5352

Dear Sirs,

I'm preparing application based on TAS5548 + TAS5352A. The system should be run in 2.1 mode (stereo + subwoofer). Is it possible to configure TAS5352A in such way, that we can run stereo in SE mode and subwoofer in BTL mode? I have seen such configuration in TAS5630B datasheet (figure 17) but not in TAS5352A.

Thank you very much.

Best regards,

Emil Petersky

  • Hi, Emil,

Welcome to e2e, and thanks for your interest in our products!

This should be possible, but I'm not sure how exactly you need to set up the TAS5548. I have asked my colleague to comment on this next week.

  • Hi, Don,

    thank you for your reply.

    If I understand it correctly, I should configure TA5352 as 4x SE [M3,M2,M1] = [1,0,0], than connect

    PWM1_P to PWM_A

    PWM2_P to PWM_B

    PWM3_P to PWM_C

and finally inverted singnal form TAS5548

    PWM3_N to PWM_D.

    Am I right?

The safest configuration of TAS5548 is to use AD modulation on all 3 channels, I think, but of course, this is not the most effective one... If you or your colleague will give me some hints, I'll really appreciate it.

    Thanks and best regards,

    Emil

  • Hello Emil:

    Yes, you are correct.

    Set TAS5352 to SE mode 1 (1, 0, 0 for M3, M2, M1 respectively).  Connnect PWM_P_1 on TAS5548 to PWM_A on TAS5352.  Connect PWM_P_2 on TAS5548 to PWM_B on TAS5352.  Finally connect PWM_P_3 on TAS5548 to PWM_C on TAS5532 and PWM_M_3 on TAS5548 to PWM_D on TAS5352.

Yes, AD modulation is the safest since TAS5352 PWM_C and PWM_D are not configured in BTL mode.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Best regards,

    Tuan

  • Thanks Tuan for your answer.
