LME49860 the Output ESD Protection Circuit

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LME49860

Hi,

Our customers pull up of the output terminal to the high voltage by using a resistor.
This high voltage is higher than V+.
We believe that there is no problem in the normal operation by the voltage drop across the this resistor,
but there is problem when this device is powered on,
this is because the output impedance of the operational amplifier may not be necessarily low.
So, could you please tell us regarding the output ESD protection circuit?
We worry about being damaged by an overcurrent.

Best Regards,
Kato

  • Hi Kato-san,

LME49860 has ESD Diode on the output. But in absolute maximum rating is saying the input voltage to the device have to be in range of (V-) - 0.7V to (V+) + 0.7V otherwise we can't guarantee the device operation. If higher voltage than Vcc or Vee was applied to output via resistor, the deivce may have damage or latch up it will be depend on how large current flow into the device when turn on the supply. But we don't gurantee the case.

  • Hi Naokawa-san,

    Thank you for your information.
We understood that our opinion is correct.
Currently, we are requesting the waveform to our customers by using the oscilloscope regarding the condition that the LME49860 is damaged.
We will confirm the result that is obtained from our customers.
    Thank you so much.

    Best Regards,
