TAS5412Q1PHDEVM needs USB2IIC board

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5412Q1PHDEVM, TAS5412-Q1, TAS5414C-Q1, TAS5412

My customer received a TAS5412Q1PHDEVM from TI.  The User Guide has instructions that refer to the use of a GUI and USB2IIC board.  I haven't found a way to get this board.  It doesn't seem to exist on TI's website.  What do you suggest?

  • Here is another problem my customer has with the new EVM Kit just sampled:

The first problem we have is the Power & Speaker Harness, output cable, is for a 4 channel kit and this is a two channel kit. The box is setup for a 6 pin connection and the cable connector is a 10 pin. If we can not get the right cable from TI then we maybe able to depin the connector if we find the right 6 pin connector. The second problem is the one switch on the TAS5412-Q1 EVM is broken. The switch feels like it broke inside and does not appear to holding to any one state. This is the Standby On / Off switch so I have not tried to power it up. The switch is soldered into the board and I don’t think we have anything like it in house. Not sure if we should try to find and order another switch to repair it here, P#: 100SP1? It would be nice to get TI to give us the part number from the manufactures BOM if we go that route.

    Broken Switch looks to be

  • Ignacio,

I am sorry you have received so many issues with the EVM.  As this comes from the TI store, I do not know why you had so many problems with this.  Here are a few options:

    1.  Send an email to the TI store and ask for a replacement.
    2.  Send me a list of what is missing and I will see what I can do.
    3.  The switch you located is correct.

Option 1 is the best option, as I may not have all the pieces you are missing.  Please let the TI store know what is missing.

  • Greg,

It seems there is a “disconnect” (no pun intended) with the connector that was selected and the mating wiring harness.

    Regards,
    Ignacio

     Edited per customer request.

  • OK. I responded by email and didn't realize it would post to e2e. If the customer email attachment made it through to public view, please remove it. I don't see it, but just want to be sure it isn't public.

    1. You didn't answer how I get a USB2IIC board ...
    2. Here is what the customer said about the connector. It seems there is an incompatibility between the board connector and the wire harness connector. "I did not get to the bottom of the EVM doc to see the BOM. I looked into ordering a sample connector to mate with the Samtech, IPBT-106-H1-T-S-RA and found out that Samtec only make 6 pin board to board mating connectors. They only make a 2, 3, 5, 8, 10 pin matting single row to wire connectors. I have de-pinned the 10 pin connector and will try to cut down the 10 pin connector. It seems like TI did not fully work out all their design problems before shipping."
  • Ignacio,
I have removed all the details in the earlier post.
    1. Contact the TI store to get the proper pieces or a whole new EVM
    2. There is a 6 pin connector and we have made the proper cables. I do not understand why you received a TAS5414C-Q1 EVM cable and not the TAS5412 EVM cable.
I will reply offline to see what we can do and close this thread.
