TAS5717 mixer issue

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5717

Dear Team:

Our customer new design used TAAS5717 to be mono output, but input is stereo.

We would like to use mixer function to achieve it  by TAS5717, but datasheet only showed register  0x51, 0x52 brief description.

Could you tell us how to set these register to implement the function (stereo input and MOno output)?

  • Hi Thomas,

I have moved this post to the correct forum, Mixers are programmed by selecting the gain that each input will be contributing to the mixed signal. this gain is set with a coefficient that ranges from 0 (no input) to 1 (full input). This coefficient must be written into the register in 3.23 format. In order to set the device configured in to have Mono output and stereo input I would recommend to use the input mixers (Reg 0x72, 0x73, 0x76, 0x77) configured to mix both L and R signals into each channel:

    Channel 1 Right input mixer    0x72 40 00 00 = 0.5
    Channel 1 Left    input mixer    0x73 40 00 00 = 0.5
    Channel 2 Left    input mixer    0x76 40 00 00 = 0.5
    Channel 2 Right input mixer    0x77 40 00 00 = 0.5
