Problem with the TAS3308EVM-LC Board

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS3308, PUREPATHSTUDIO

Hello!

On Friday, the 23rd April, i got the TAS3308EVM-LC Board.

This Weekend i tried to work with the Board.

I load in to the I2C Command Tool the 3308_init_master configuration script and make all the first steps, that are discribed in the User Guide of the board.

Then i load the TAS3308 Example Process Flow and at the Headphone i hear nothing.

For project i want only use the PWM Outputs.

I thought i made something wrong so i make a really easy Process flow. I just connect a ADCIn_1 with a PWM Out and hear also nothing.

In the Probe Point Window i see the signal, that came through the line in, in all Points. So i think the TAS get the signal but the outputs make nothing.

Have i do some configuration i don't know?

Now i hope someone can help me.

Greeting, Markus

  • Markus, I am not sure if you selected the right option to 'execute on reset' the script. Please also note that I have seen different versions of the script for the LC version of the board, make sure you use the one from the CD.

I got fed up of having to connect to my PC to initialise the board so I created some initialisation commands that you put into the process flow so that it does it automatically when power is applied. Have a look at the attached process flow.

  • I have the same problem!

Do you have a solution to this problem?

  • What version of PurePathStudio are you using?

I can send you an example process flow with auto-init features.

  • Hi Neil,

    I'm using version 1.88 build 3.

Just to be really basic to avoid some confusion, I have tried your AutoInitPFW in your reply above. It is just to download this project in the PPS, use the "Line in" for my input audio and I will have audio on the analog output? Right?

  • Hi, you should find that once you put PPS into run mode (Build menu) that audio streams from the 'Line In' input to the 'Headphone Output'. If this doesn't work then there is something wrong with your set up. Which LEDs are lit up? Does the yellow LED2 light up for a short time when you download the code to the EVM?

  • Hi,

Well, now Your project works. I could hear the audio for half a second when the output said "Resetting the EVM" then it got quiet. Because on reset I ran the script "PurePath Studio GDE\TAS3xxx Configuration Scripts\3308_init_master.cfg" on the CD.  Removing this option made Your project work alright.

So now I can run your project, but I the example project "TAS3308.pfw" on the CD gives no output. I recIick the "Execute on reset"  in the I2C command tool window and with the  command file mentioned above. Then I "Build" -> "run". What have I missed?

  • Hi,

You seem to be doing everything right. My auto-init is doing the same job as the I2C script so there should be no difference.

The default process flow on the CD is OK but runs at 44.1kHz not at 48kHz by default.

Did you find the test procedure document 'TAS3308EVM-LC Test Procedure.pdf' on your CD? It refers to different initialisation scripts and a different process flow.

    Regards

    Neil.

  • Hi,

I have still no luck today with other project than Yours. The document You mention, I don't have on my CD.

Perhaps my init_master script on the CD is invalid? Can You please attach Your version of this script and also this Test Procedure document?

    Helge

  • Hi, I have attached the files from my CD...

  • Hi,

Yes, this .cfg file worked! Thank You!

Still one issue though. My project needs 6 output channels. Therefor I use the J6 ouput pins. I get signal on output 1-4 (pin 9-11, 5-7) , but no signal on output 5-6 (pin 1-3).

Test project is very simple. Input to a splitter that spilts same signal to every output.

Do you have the same issue?

  • Hi, the default output configuration is set by the last statement in the script to:-

    ! Set PWM3 output to AD Modulation PWM2 & 1 are Comb-AD

    X18 82 92 92 08

You need to change this so that PWM3 is also set to Comb-AD:-

    X18 92 92 92 08

    That will fix it.

    Neil.

  • Hi,

    Yes, confirmed! It now works!

    Thank You for all help!
