Hello,
I am currently developing a stereo application that utilizes 4 TAS5713 Chips. (2 separate boards so I2C isn't a problem)
The application consists of 4 drivers (2 mid-woofers and 2 tweeters) being driven by their own TAS5713 chips configured to PBTL mode.
I apply my EQ (depending on the chip (high pass low pass etc)) and the left and right depending on the chip as well.
Everything is working however, I have some questions:
My woofer is 8 Ohms, will this be a problem for my output filter or just from the fact that this is doubled due to PBTL?
My tweeter is 6 Ohms, should I be changing the filter or can they use the same values?
Is there a modulation scheme that is better or worse in this situation?
I have built circuits with the TPA3118D2 in the past and seem to like the performance of this better. I figured with active crossovers and digital (lossless) inputs I would achieve better results. The big differences I can think of with the new design are: AD modulation instead of BD modulation. Small inductors (3.5A vs 6A). Now the circuit is PBTL not just BTL so my impedance doubled..
I am thinking it is the current-handling of the inductors-they might be saturating. (I am connecting outputs pre-filter for the TAS5713 in PBTL) but as I dive into the filter design for this I am not seeing many examples with loads greater than 8 Ohms
Any advice would be appreciated thanks!
