TAS5707 Power limit

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5707

Hi Audio team,

I'm Vio Liu from South China FAE team. One of my customers, CVT, is using our TAS5707 in their TV motherboard.

Customer want to add power limit function with TAS5707 in their design. It is said that register 0x56 and 0x57 can be used to limit the output power. But the register  0x51~0xf8 in TAS5707 is reserved, as mentioned in the datasheet.

Can you help us check whether customer can limit the output power with the register configuration? If yes, is there any other impact on the other performance? Thank you for audio teams' help!

  • Hi Viu,

Registers 0x56 and 0x57 of the TAS5707 are reserved, but Power limiting function can be accomplished by the use of the DRC. I think this document may be useful to understand how to use the DRC. Also i would recommend to use the GUI to configure the DRC according to customer's needs.

  • Hi Diego Meléndez López,

    Thank you for your answering!

Customer knows DRC, but they need direct control of the power limit. I'll check with customer for further details.

I've told customer that they should use DRC other than the hidden register, and using the hidden register will have potential risks.

    Best regards,
